FLAGPOLE ACCESSORIES

This section lists the various hardware items & their purposes... as well as other accessories to finish the pole to your specifications, needs & your aesthetic look. Nikki's Flags attention to detail further establishs us as the company to fill all of your flag and banner needs.

Gold ball or flying eagle ornament that sits on top of the flag pole.

Truck - This houses both the pulley for the halyard (rope) and mounting base for the top ornament. It is available in different forms & sizes for various poles.

Snaps - These are used to secure the halyard to the flag. Available in different sizes, material (brass, chrome, stainless steel, & nylon) & shapes for the size of the flag.

Halyard - this is the "rope" to which the flag is attached. The halyard would typically be made of double braided nylon to prevent the halyard of twisting though the pulley as the flag is brought down & back up the pole. It is available in various sizes, colors, types to fit the pole needs (wire core, etc). There are other types available (wire core, wire, etc.)

Cleat - an anchor for the halyard. The cleat is used to tie off the halyard line once the flag has been raised to its appropriate height. The top flag is usually lowered a couple of inches below the mouth of truck to prevent it cutting the halyard.

Base collar - The cover that actually hides the bottom of the pole.

Security accessories - Cleat cover box with locks (cast aluminum with stainless hinge pins), Halyard covers (a 1=3/4" wide by 1" deep aluminum channel to be used with the cleat cover box above by providing protection to 5', 6', 8', or 10' above the cleat box).

Concrete foundation - The pole is embedded into a concrete foundation of which size is architecturally engineered to determine the depth & width of the foundation. Commercial poles generally requite a city/county permit which includes these specializations. A sleeve ( PVC (for small residential poles) or corrugated steel tube (for commercial poles)) is embedded into the center of the foundation as the concrete is poured. The pole is then inserted into the sleeve & dry sand is added to insure the pole is plumbed correctly.

Outrigger Wall Mount - A bracket for wall mounted poles. This bracket is affixed to the side of the wall either for a vertical or angled pole. Counter weight - helps to balance the upper assembly, prevent the halyard from bunching up… and attenuates the halyard tendency to begin "harmonizing" with the wind and slapping the flagpole.

Internal flag poles - The halyard is housed inside the pole & uses the following parts:
Cable or rope assemblies - used to attach bottom of the flag to counterweight & is attached to retainer ring to secure the flag close to the pole.

Counterweight - used to keep the flag hanging down.

Retainer ring - anchors the lower part of the counterweight and should move freely about the flagpole as the wind in the flag drags it in various directions.
Flag set carrying case - though not necessary, if you are planning on having regular outdoor displays of the American flag several times per year… a well constructed flag carrying case will provide a convenient way to keep your flag clean, make sure all accessories are gathered into one spot, and provide for easy transport from the car to the final display location.
